Nov. 2, 2017 Kaskaskia walk back to the Lodge

Kaskaskia Waterfall

There were 30 hikers today, including myself.  It was drizzling in the morning, but as we hiked there was no rain. It was foggy throughout the day, but the hike was very pleasant.  Not to much mud. The trolley to us to the East end of the park to Kaskaskia / Ottawa Canyon parking lot and we walked back from there only going into Kaskaskia Canyon.

Everyone on the trolley ride to the drop off point.

We waited to everyone got off the trolley before we left.

New sign marking the bluff trail.

"The Boot" area.  Right on the other side of this formation is Council Overhang

This photo was taken from the back wall of Council Overhang looking out.
New sign at the intersection of Ottawa /Kaskaskia Canyons.  We only chose to go into Kaskaskia today

Two ladies from Indiana walked with us today.  Photo of Kaskaskia Canyon waterfall.

Foggy view of the Illinois River from the River trail

Hidden Canyon

The trail would get a little slippery in some areas

There is still some color out there.

Duck decoy in the stream underneath the LaSalle Canyon Bridge

Bluff stairs.... not today

Area near Sandstone Point.  Many people climb (illegally) here when the park is busy.  Not today!

Top of Wildcat Canyon.

Top of French Canyon.  Almost back to the Lodge
I will leave you with this: Notice how trees do not cling to their leaves. Fall is about releasing the old to make way for the new.
